For this project, the customer asks to design a light-weight bike rack that can hold 3 bikes in the back of a TOYOTA 4Runner. The material of the rack needs to be chosen, the dimension of the rack needs to be calculated, and the cross-section shape needs to be designed.

FULL REPORT

The report contains the whole process of the project, including hand calculation, CAD model, and Finite Element Analysis report and analysis of the data.

CAD MODEL & SITMULATION

After hand calculation, the cross-section shape and the dimension of the rack are determined. The detailed calculations are included in the file at the bottom. Then, a corresponding CAD model is generated to be validated by the finite element analysis in Autodesk Inventor.

After the Finite Element analysis, The mechanical design of the bike rack is verified to be feasible.
